Tapash Roy, Kolkata, March 17, 2025: On the 18th and 19th of March 2025, the esteemed East Zone Vice Chancellors Meet 2024-2025 will unfold in Kolkata, hosted by JIS University. This event, a flagship gathering of academic leaders from across Eastern India, will be inaugurated by the Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal, H.E. Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose, on March 18, 2025. The curtain-raiser press conference provided an insightful preview into what promises to be a landmark occasion for India’s higher education sector.
Since its founding in 1925, the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has stood as a pillar in the landscape of higher education in India. This year’s East Zone Vice Chancellors Meet is themed “Equity, Diversity & Sustainability,” reflecting a growing focus on fostering an inclusive, accessible educational environment while also addressing the critical issue of environmental sustainability within the country’s academic institutions. The gathering will see Vice Chancellors from over 100 universities across Eastern India coming together to deliberate on these pressing themes, in alignment with AIU’s broader vision of promoting academic collaboration.
Prominent figures in education addressed the press conference, including Dr. Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General of AIU; Sardar Taranjit Singh, Managing Director of JIS Group; Dr. Bhabes Bhattacharya, Vice Chancellor of JIS University; Dr. Neeraj Saxena, Pro-Chancellor of JIS Group; and Shri Bidyut Majumder, Deputy Director of Business Development, JIS Group. The event will serve as a crucial platform for these leaders to engage in discussions surrounding innovative strategies and initiatives, particularly in advancing inclusivity and sustainability within the realm of higher education.
