This solemn oath-taking tradition is a distinctive feature of the 113-year-old institution, reaffirming its commitment to nurturing responsible leadership among its students through a transparent democratic process. The theme of this year’s ceremony, “To Lead Is to Serve,” resonated deeply with Loreto values in its emphasis on service-oriented leadership.

The ceremony was graced by the distinguished presence of the Chief Guest Mr. Alapan Bandyopadhyay, Principal Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal. Sr. Sabrina Edwards was present as the Guest of Honour. Other attendees and guests included Sr. Dr. A. Nirmala, the Teacher-in-Charge; Dr. Amrita Dasgupta, the IQAC Coordinator; Mother Superior Sr. Powlin of Loreto House; Ms. Nandini Bhattacharya, Director of the Loreto Education Board; noted lawyer Ms. Debjani Mitra Neogy; and Dr. Tania Chakraborty, Principal of Shri Shikshayatan College.

In his address, Mr. Alapan Bandyopadhyay expressed his gratitude to the college authorities for its recognition of the importance of leadership and its thoughtful organisation of such a unique and meaningful investiture ceremony. Drawing from his extensive experience in public administration and bureaucracy, he encouraged and inspired the students by underlining the nature of leadership as a learning trajectory aimed at the ideal of selfless service. Notably, this year marked a significant milestone for Loreto College with the inclusion of various functional cells and committees in the Student Council structure—an initiative aimed at ensuring student participation in key decision-making processes. Mr. Bandyopadhyay commended this progressive step as a meaningful stride towards shaping socially aware and responsible citizens.
