July 4, 2025 – Kolkata witnessed a deeply moving cinematic moment today as Montage, the debut feature by Mayuresh Rajvaidya, premiered to a standing ovation at the 10th Durgapur International Film Festival, held at Nandan. A film that lingers like a fading photograph, Montage tenderly explores the emotional upheaval of a young man’s journey from Aurangabad to Mumbai—tracing the delicate contours of displacement, longing, and quiet resilience. The audience was visibly stirred by the film’s heartfelt storytelling, anchored by sensitive performances from Rajvaidya himself and Radhika Mhatre. Following the screening, a vibrant Q\&A session unfolded, where the director and team were met with thoughtful applause and genuine curiosity, underscoring the film’s emotional impact and narrative honesty. Produced by Preeti Singha and presented by Samsara Productions in association with Sunway Studios, Montage has already made its mark, earning nominations in three major categories at DIFF 2025. Its premiere not only reaffirmed the festival’s commitment to authentic independent voices but also introduced a storyteller with a rare sense of lyrical grace. As anticipation builds toward the Closing & Award Ceremony on July 7 at Sujata Devi Smriti Sadan, Montage remains a luminous contender—quiet, soulful, and unforgettable.
