7th January, ATNN: St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata is set to witness a vibrant January with a series of academic, cultural, musical and social initiatives that highlight the institution’s multifaceted engagement with knowledge, creativity and community service.
From 9 to 11 January 2026, the college will host the 10th International Conference on Data Management, Analytics and Innovation (ICDMAI 2026) in collaboration with the Society of Data Science. The three-day international conference will bring together leading scientists, academicians, industry experts, policy thinkers and young researchers from across the world for intellectually enriching discussions, discoveries and collaborations. ICDMAI 2026 has been officially recognised as an approved pre-summit event of the India AI Summit and is further strengthened by the support of professional communities such as Coding Ninjas and Women in AI. Regarded as a premier global forum, the conference aims to bridge theory and practice in the rapidly evolving domains of data management, artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data analytics, intelligent systems and digital innovation, while also highlighting ethical frameworks and real-world applications shaping data-driven societies.

The cultural calendar continues with Xavotsav, the annual inter-college festival of St. Xavier’s College, scheduled to be held on 17 and 18 January 2026. The fest will see participation from over twelve reputed educational institutions across more than five diverse competitive categories. This year’s theme, “Timeless Transience,” is designed to inspire students to showcase their creativity and potential to the fullest. A grand celebration of art, culture and youthful expression, Xavotsav will feature events spanning dance, music, dramatics, lifestyle, speaking arts, fine arts, literary arts, journalism and business. In keeping with the institution’s ethos, the surplus generated from sponsorships will be channelled towards philanthropic initiatives and student scholarships.
Music enthusiasts can look forward to Beyond Barriers, one of Eastern India’s oldest and most iconic musical concerts, organised annually by the Xavier’s College (Calcutta) Alumni Association. Launched in 1995, the concert has hosted some of the biggest names in Indian music, including Asha Bhosle, Kailash Kher, KK, Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal, Remo Fernandes and Farhan Akhtar. Entering its 24th chapter this year, Beyond Barriers will be held on 24 January 2026 at the college grounds. The event will pay a heartfelt tribute to Zubeen Garg, who passed away in September last year. The concert has been composed and designed by acclaimed composers Sourendro Ganguly and Rathijit Bhattacharjee and will feature celebrated singers from both the Hindi and Bengali film industries, including finalists from Zee Bangla Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.
Extending its commitment to social welfare, the Xavier’s College (Calcutta) Alumni Association, in collaboration with the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal, will organise a Mega Health Camp, including an eye check-up camp, on 18 January 2026 at the Raghabpur Campus of St. Xavier’s College. The camp will offer consultations in ophthalmology, ENT, paediatrics, general medicine and dental care, along with free medicines, follow-up support and assistance for essential surgeries. The initiative aims to serve residents of villages in and around Raghabpur, reflecting the Xaverian commitment to inclusive development and care for marginalised communities.
