Loreto-Women’s Christian in Academic Sync

ATNN, Kolkata: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Loreto College, Kolkata, and Women’s Christian College, Kolkata, on March 6 at Loreto College, marking the beginning of a formal academic partnership between the two institutions.

The agreement aims to strengthen academic collaboration through a range of initiatives, including student and faculty exchange programmes, the organisation of joint seminars, conferences and workshops, and the promotion of collaborative research involving both students and faculty members. The partnership is expected to create opportunities for meaningful academic engagement, encourage the exchange of ideas, and facilitate the sharing of best practices in teaching and research. The initiative aligns with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020, which emphasises inter-institutional collaboration, academic mobility and the strengthening of research culture within higher education institutions.

Through the partnership, both colleges aim to expand avenues for intellectual interaction and provide wider opportunities for scholarly engagement and academic growth.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Sr. Dr. A. Nirmala, Teacher-in-Charge of Loreto College; Prof. Kushal Andrew Biswas, Teacher-in-Charge of Women’s Christian College; Dr. Amrita Dasgupta, IQAC Coordinator of Loreto College; Dr. Somnath Hazra, IQAC Coordinator of Women’s Christian College; Dr. Mainak Bhattacharjee, Head of the Department of Economics at Loreto College; and Dr. Mousumi Kar, Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Women’s Christian College. Their presence highlighted the shared commitment of both institutions to strengthening academic cooperation and institutional ties.

The signing of the MoU marks the beginning of a collaborative partnership expected to contribute to academic enrichment, research engagement and the overall development of students and faculty members in both institutions.
