Tapash Roy,kolkata:Kerala Communicators Cable Limited (KCCL), India’s leading multi-system operator with a 70 percent market share in Kerala, has officially announced its entry into West Bengal, marking the launch of its ambitious Pan India Movement aimed at replicating its successful operator-owned and operator-driven model across the country. Partnering with Balaji Universal, a Category A ISP with strong infrastructure across West Bengal and parts of Northeast India, KCCL plans a seamless rollout of digital cable TV, high-speed broadband, IPTV, OTT aggregation and enterprise services in the state. The announcement was made in the presence of key industry leaders including COA President Praveen Mohan and the senior leadership of KCCL and Kerala Vision Broadband Limited, underlining the strategic importance of the expansion. With an initial investment of around ₹10 crore to seed one lakh set-top boxes and a long-term goal of capturing 25 percent of the state’s cable market, KCCL aims to serve up to 15 lakh subscribers in West Bengal while significantly strengthening broadband penetration. Emphasizing operator empowerment, social security and job creation, the Kerala Vision model treats local cable operators as stakeholders rather than vendors, a philosophy that has helped it grow to over 30 lakh cable and 14 lakh broadband subscribers in Kerala. Leveraging existing infrastructure from Balaji Universal alongside new fiber deployments, KCCL’s entry into West Bengal is positioned as a structural shift for the region’s cable and broadband ecosystem, with further expansion planned across eastern and northeastern states including Odisha, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand and the Northeast.
