Kolkata, September 10, 2026: TUFCON, the flagship steel brand of Sri Langta Baba Steels Pvt. Ltd., has announced a proposed investment of ₹5,500 crore in Bihar as part of its expansion plans, along with a planned Greenfield steel manufacturing project in Nagpur, Maharashtra.
The announcement was made at a press conference in Kolkata organised under the TUFCON XT initiative, as the company marked nine years of its operations. The Bihar investment will be part of a Greenfield project in Chakai, which has been formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Bihar.
The company said the projects in Bihar and Nagpur are aimed at expanding its manufacturing capacity, strengthening operational capabilities and creating a more integrated steel manufacturing ecosystem. Implementation of the projects is expected to begin shortly, it said.
The expansion is also expected to generate employment and support the development of ancillary industries, logistics and other businesses in the project regions. TUFCON said the investments would help it increase production capacity, widen its product portfolio and strengthen its presence across key Indian markets.
Sri Mohan Prasad Saw, Chairman and Managing Director of Sri Langta Baba Steels Pvt. Ltd., said the proposed investments mark the beginning of a significant new phase for the company. He said the company’s focus would remain on quality, technology, operational excellence and strong partnerships while building a wider national presence.The company also highlighted its “Sankalp 2026” initiative during the TUFCON XT event, describing it as a reflection of its nine-year journey of growth, customer trust and partnerships with dealers and distributors.As part of the celebrations, TUFCON organised a Dealers & Distributors Achievers’ Programme to recognise channel partners for their contribution to the brand’s growth.With the proposed projects in Bihar and Nagpur, TUFCON said it plans to move towards a more integrated and scalable manufacturing footprint, while investing in technology, efficiency and new product offerings.
