Mantras Champions a Greener Tomorrow

Tapash Roy,Kolkata, August 4: Reinforcing its commitment to environmental education and sustainable development, Mantras Foundation officially launched the third edition of the Environment Champion Quiz 2026, one of Eastern India’s largest school-based environmental awareness initiatives. The launch was marked by a Teacher Coordinators, Media & Volunteer Orientation Meet held at Calcutta Anglo Gujarati School, Kolkata.

The orientation brought together over 100 teacher coordinators, media representatives, volunteers, and partner organisations to discuss the vision, objectives, and implementation roadmap of the 2026 edition. The programme focused on strengthening collaboration with schools and expanding environmental awareness among students across the region.

The event was attended by Mayapati Khemka, Chairman of Mantras Foundation, Vibhor Tandon, President, Pragya Jhunjhunwala, Vice President, Chandra Shekhar Yadav of Praxia Skill, environmental enthusiasts from the Rabindra Sarovar Friends Forum, and members of the management committee of the Calcutta Gujarati Education Society, who collectively reaffirmed their commitment to promoting environmental sustainability through education and community participation.

Building on the success of its previous two editions, the Environment Champion Quiz has already reached more than 100,000 students across over 150 schools through awareness programmes, symposiums, and quiz competitions. The 2026 edition aims to engage over 200 schools and more than 200,000 students from Classes VIII to XII, making it one of the region’s most ambitious environmental education initiatives.

Addressing the gathering, Mayapati Khemka said that today’s environmental challenges demand awareness, responsibility, and collective action. He noted that the initiative seeks to nurture environmentally conscious young citizens who will inspire sustainable practices within their schools, families, and communities.

Organised by Mantras Foundation and powered by State Bank of India, the initiative is supported by CSR Partner EMC Limited, Gifting Partners Win Pens and Anmol Biscuits, along with Lions Club of Tollygunge, MASA Forum, Praxia Skills, and Rabindra Sarovar Friends Forum. Aligned with the objectives of Schedule VII of the Companies Act, 2013, the programme promotes environmental sustainability, biodiversity conservation, climate awareness, and responsible citizenship.

Schools across Kolkata and neighbouring districts have been invited to participate in the Environment Champion Quiz 2026 and join the growing movement to inspire the next generation of environmental leaders.
