Sunny Deol Inspires NiT Freshers at Swagatam 2026
Tapash Roy,Kolkata, August 12, 2026: Narula Institute of Technology (NiT), a JIS Group Educational Initiative, welcomed its new batch of students at its annual induction programme, ‘Swagatam 2026’, held at the Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium in Kolkata. The programme set an inspiring tone for the new academic year, bringing together distinguished personalities from cinema, academia, healthcare, spirituality, public life and industry.

The event was graced by Smt. Agnimitra Paul, Cabinet Minister-in-Charge of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Government of West Bengal; renowned actor Sunny Deol; filmmaker, producer and screenwriter Rajkumar Santoshi; eminent cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon Dr. Kunal Sarkar; Prof. Tapas Chakraborty, Vice-Chancellor, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), West Bengal; Swami Vedatitananda Ji Maharaj of Belur Math; and senior members of the JIS Group, including Managing Director Sardar Taranjit Singh, Deputy Managing Director Sardar Amrik Singh, Director Sardar Simarpreet Singh and Trustee Sardar Harinder Pal Singh. Prof. (Dr.) Subhram Das, Principal, Narula Institute of Technology, and senior management of JIS Group and NiT were also present.

A major highlight of the programme was Sunny Deol’s interaction with the students. Sharing insights from his remarkable journey in the Indian film industry, he spoke about perseverance, dedication and pursuing one’s aspirations with conviction. He also spoke about his upcoming film ‘Batwara 1947’. His candid interaction added a special dimension to the induction programme and left the young audience inspired.

The presence of eminent academic leaders and accomplished personalities underlined the importance of a multidimensional approach to education. The speakers encouraged students to approach their new academic journey with confidence, discipline, curiosity, perseverance and an open mind, emphasising that higher education is not merely about academic achievement but also about developing character, leadership, creativity and professional vision.
