KOLKATA: Digital creator Preeti Sarkar hosted her first-ever community meetup, ‘Chai Latte with Preeti’, at the venue Hashtag in Kolkata. Organized in association with L’Oréal Paris, the intimate event brought Preeti together with her followers, friends, and fellow creators for an afternoon centered around candid conversations, creativity, and self-expression. During the event, Preeti opened up about the initial hurdles of her career, sharing a challenging audition experience when she first arrived in Kolkata to pursue acting. She also recalled facing harsh criticism regarding her appearance during a brand shoot, which deeply affected her personal insecurities at the time. Addressing the gathering, Preeti highlighted her journey of overcoming those obstacles, stating, “The same girl who was once made to feel insecure about her appearance went on to become the face of an international hair colour brand. Never let someone else’s beauty standards decide how big you can dream”. Reflecting on her early days of content creation—which began using just a phone, natural sunlight, and an improvised tripod—she emphasized that her breakthrough occurred when she embraced her own unique voice rather than imitating others. "Don’t waste your life trying to prove people wrong. Just keep building a life that makes you proud," she told the audience. The meetup featured several interactive elements, including Chai Latte Bingo, Kulhad Pong, and a DIY charm-making session. The event concluded with refreshments, photography sessions, and informal networking, aimed at translating digital connections into a real-world celebration of authenticity and resilience.
