IBBF-KOL Unveils Vision for Indian Fitness

ATNN, Kolkata: The Indian Body Building Federation – Kolkata, India (IBBF-KOL) unveiled its newly constituted Executive Committee and outlined an ambitious roadmap for the promotion of bodybuilding, fitness, yoga, physical education and natural sports across the country at a press conference held at the Press Club, Kolkata, on Monday, July 20, 2026.

Addressing representatives of the print, electronic, digital and online media, the federation said the new Executive Committee comprises eminent sports personalities, educationists, fitness professionals, sports administrators and distinguished contributors from West Bengal and different parts of India. The committee pledged to build a transparent, professional and internationally respected sports movement dedicated to youth empowerment, health, discipline and sporting excellence.

Drawing inspiration from the legacy of legendary Indian bodybuilders Shri Monotosh Roy and Shri Manohar Aich, the federation reaffirmed its commitment to preserving their contributions while creating greater opportunities for athletes through national championships, educational initiatives, fitness awareness programmes and sports development activities.

The federation also announced that the 1st Federation Cup 2026 and the 1st Natural National Games 2026 will be held from December 4 to 6, 2026, at the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC), Salt Lake, Kolkata. Athletes, coaches, judges and technical officials from across the country are expected to participate, with representation anticipated from every State and Union Territory.

During the press conference, IBBF-KOL presented a comprehensive set of proposals to the newly elected government for the advancement of bodybuilding, fitness and physical culture in India. These include institutional support for the scientific development of yoga, fitness and bodybuilding; assistance in organizing transparent and world-class championships; enhanced athlete welfare through coaching, nutrition, sports science, sports medicine, healthcare and insurance; nationwide promotion of physical wellness programmes; development of international-standard training centres and sports infrastructure; official recognition and preservation of the legacy of Shri Monotosh Roy and Shri Manohar Aich; scholarships, employment opportunities and international exposure for deserving athletes; promotion of fitness and bodybuilding in educational institutions; and the launch of a coordinated national mission to establish India as a global leader in fitness, bodybuilding and physical culture.

Members of the newly formed Executive Committee emphasized that their vision is to strengthen India’s sporting ecosystem through professionalism, transparency and inclusivity while encouraging greater participation of youth in bodybuilding, fitness, yoga and natural sports. They also underscored the important role of the media in promoting awareness and supporting the growth of these disciplines across the nation.
