Kolkata, 8 October 2026: The JIS School of Medical Science & Research, Howrah, a JIS Group Educational Initiative, welcomed its incoming MBBS Batch 2026 with the Orientation Ceremony marking the beginning of their journey into medical education and the responsibilities of the medical profession.

The ceremony featured the White Coat Ceremony, where the new batch of MBBS students formally received their white coats in the presence of faculty members and designated dignitaries. The occasion marked an important transition for the students as they embarked on their journey towards becoming healthcare professionals. The White Coat Ceremony was followed by a ceremonial address and the White Coat Pledge, reinforcing the importance of professional ethics and responsibility in medical practice. The programme concluded with the Charak Shapath for the incoming batch, bringing forth the values of service and responsibility associated with the medical profession.

The Orientation Ceremony served as an introduction to the professional ethos of medicine, reminding the students that their journey extends beyond academic learning to developing the compassion, discipline and integrity essential to patient care.

Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Taranjit Singh, Managing Director, JIS Group, said, “The beginning of a medical journey is about much more than entering a classroom. The white coat represents trust, responsibility and the privilege of serving another human being. At JIS, we want our students to develop not only into competent doctors, but into compassionate and ethical professionals who understand the responsibility that comes with the profession. The Orientation Ceremony and Charak Shapath mark the beginning of that journey, and we wish our new batch the determination to learn, the humility to serve and the courage to uphold the highest standards of medical practice.”
