Tapas Roy, May 3, 2026: The Lions Club of Calcutta North hosted a thought-provoking talk show at Tollygunge Club titled “Global Conflicts – Shaping Your Lives?” under the theme “War Beyond Borders.” The event highlighted how international crises are no longer distant geopolitical concerns, but active forces shaping economies, governance, and everyday personal choices. It emphasized how global tensions translate into real-world impacts that directly influence daily life.
The session featured a distinguished panel including Debashis Sen, Reshmi Ghosh, Subir Mukherjee, Seema Sapru, K. Rangarajan, and Lokesh Nathany, with the discussion moderated by Tapan Kumar Gadodia. The panel explored key intersections of defence, governance, education, and media narratives, offering diverse perspectives on contemporary global challenges.
An engaging Q&A session further reinforced the relevance of global developments in shaping everyday realities. The programme also included a tribute to past presidents through a special audio-visual presentation, adding a reflective dimension to the event.
Club President Anil Saraogi noted that the initiative aimed to transform citizens from passive observers into informed and resilient global participants. Moderator Tapan Kumar Gadodia emphasized the importance of such conversations in fostering awareness and thoughtful engagement.
The event was successfully organized with the active involvement of Subhash Murarka, Ratan Dugar, Niranjan Jain, Babulal Bothra, and O P Bangur. Founded in 1961 under District 322B1 with over 160 members, the club continues its extensive community outreach through healthcare, vocational training, and social initiatives, including hospital services, a training centre, and a safari park, along with flagship programmes such as vision care and hunger relief.
